La Traviata 2008
'Lake George Opera's season is brilliantly sung. You cannot get any safer or more comfortable than Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata and when it is sung as gorgeously as it is at LGO, it makes visiting the familiar a rewarding experience. Adding to the beauty of the production is a lush 32-piece orchestra (conductor) Mark D. Flint brings rich sentimentality to Verdi's romantically grand music. Aside from the magical singing voices...(which) offer passionate beauty – any production of La Traviata that can make heartache out of melodrama is worth seeing. If you care about beautiful music... you won't be disappointed.'

'Not everything that happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas, if we judge by Lake George Opera's latest production at the Spa Little Theater. Elizabeth Andrews Roberts' lovely mature tone, Marc Schreiner's natural ease in his singing and Kelly Anderson's warm, deep voice ... the highly talented trio was joined by an able chorus. LGO took a gamble on moving Traviata to Vegas, but three outstanding singers trumped the deal, and this cast deserves a full house for its remaining performances.'

'La Traviata plays well in Vegas, baby. Lake George Opera has gone well beyond the minimum, three merely competent singers in the leading roles, in its new production. Elizabeth Andrews Roberts is an affecting Violetta, with a voice that uses legato, dynamic control and good enunciation. Marc Schreiner (Alfredo), his voice is excellent and Kelly Anderson (Germont) a baritone sound that recalls Robert Merrill, lush and loud. It's good to see that this local company can do so well with a landmark in music history.'

'Vegas-style opera perfect choice for LGO production. Terrific voices, popular story, even showgirls. The Lake George Opera Orchestra, led by Mark D. Flint, started the dice rolling nicely with a sensitively performed overture. As for the principals, this production boasts a truly talented cast headed by Roberts. Her voice is a fabulous instrument that can split the rafters and send shivers down one's spine in all the big arias. And she is in very good company. It's hard to believe she was just an apprentice artist with the company two summers ago. I can't in fact, remember better singing across the board from any Lake George Opera cast.'
